Does anyone know why many QF-86H target drones carried what appears to be the Polish Air Force insignia on the forward fuselage.

That is a photo target. usually a black and white circle similar to a BMW emblem nowadays.

No, it is doubtful a photo target. The Polish symbol is only seen on a number of the H model drones, and is not a standard marking.

known "Polish" aircraft were 31402, 31408, 22122, 25746, 31314, 22090 and 22094 but others I am sure existed.

Someone in the program undoubtably had a proud Polish heritage in my guess on the markings.
