Has anyone ever looked at the possibility of a Pucara warbird?

I looked in to it after the Argentine British bash. Big airplane IMHO too big for its engines...if you scaled it down a bit I think it might be fun but Id rather have an OV 10 bronco. They brought one back that was being restored in England at Duxford...I don't know its present status as I last saw it 10 years ago or more.

I saw the duxford pucara back in april... didn't look like anything was being done to it. Pretty impressive airplane though, much bigger than it looks in the pics IMHO.

There are three in the UK. One at the RAF Museum Cosford, One at Duxford, and one at the North East Aircraft Museum (used to be at the Fleet Air Arm museum). All of these are static examples.

Based on the size, it would be no more complicated to own than a King Air providing you don't have hot seats or the manufacturer doesn't have any complicated inspection requirements that compels the owner operator to bring it back to the factory every so many hours. Outside of that it looks fun!

What do you guys mean by "too big for its engines?" It has engines that put out close too 1000 shp - perfectly fine!

I've never known much about the Pucara, so I did some internet searching. There's some good info on the Wiki page, and surprisingly a lot of videos on YouTube.

Neato! I want one!! :D
