While the crew was working on the recently aquired avenger, they found etched into one of the panels this squadron patch for what we beive is VA-55 Warhorse which used Avengers from 1943 to 1947.
We have found some similar patches but none that shows the stripes on the torpedo that can be seen.
Does anyone have photos of an Avenger in this squadron with this patch? It is a panel located just forward of the cockpit in line with the canopy rail.

Furthermore, here are a few photos of the Avenger being washed down after stripping.

I've seen some of the patches, just not one with a striped Torpedo. Just wondering of the significance.

Thanks!

Agreed, VA-6A is a much better match

VA-6A turned into VA-55 their seems to be a couple of variations on the patch.
