'Glacier Girl' at Sun 'n' Fun

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing these.

No prizes for guessing what my favourite aircraft of the week was at Sun 'n' Fun. Flown (as always) by Steve Hinton.

This really is a marvellous aircraft, and the story of its recovery from Greenland and subsequent multi-million dollar restoration is a tribute to those behind this outstanding project.

A deserved winner of the award for 'Grand Champion WWII' at the excellent warbirds award banquet held last night at Kermit Weeks' 'Fantasy of Flight' museum.

On Friday, Glacier Girl was part of a unique 'Heritage Flight' formation, probably never to be seen again. One of the last active USAF F-4E Phantoms (based at Tyndall AFB and used for target work) was brought to the show, and flew with the East Coast Demo F-16, Glacier Girl, and Lee Lauderback in Stallion 51's well-known TF-51 'Crazy Horse'.

A couple of admin messages if I may. 1. You have dust on your sensor already 2. Dont forget to leave the flight suit

Yes, I know. I've already cleaned it once this week.

Just you be sure and leave it nice and un-soiled, I came away rom an aerobatic Chippy flight with both gloves on so I am nearly ready

I love the US roundel with the meatball. An amazing restoration and scheme. The Heritage flight was a stunner too, great flying. Wonder what the IAS was?

Holy mackeral....I can't believe they actually flew Glacier Girl. From what I have heard, the owner wants a small fortune just to have a static display. Can't imagine what he charges to have it fly.
Terrific pictures. Might have to pirate one for my wall.

ps. YES...I've already been told Steve Hinton is NOT an American Airlines airplane driver.
