DE HAVILLAND MOSQUITO CONFIRMED FOR THE 2013 HAMILTON AIRSHOW

Jerry Yagen (Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach) and Dave Rohrer (Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum) are planning for Jerry Yagen's newly restored de Havilland Mosquito to attend the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's 2013 Hamilton Airshow on June 15 & 16!

The Mosquito's appearance at the Hamilton Airshow will be the first appearance of this historic aircraft in Canada and it is planned to be part of a special formation flight that will include the Lancaster, Spitfire & Hurricane - an aircraft formation and sight that hasn't been seen in the skies over Hamilton since 1990.

The rare Mosquito will definitely be the star of the vintage aircraft line-up that will include many rare and unique machines that will be announced in March. Already confirmed as returning to the show are the RCAF Snowbirds and Matt Younkin & his Beech 18. General Admission, Photo Pass and Flightline Club tickets are now on sale.

Please note that the Mosquito will be arriving early to be the subject of a special featured event at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum on Friday June 14th that will include discussions with several former Mosquito pilots including George Stewart who was recently honoured sharing his knowledge and experience to a new generation of Mosquito pilots in New Zealand. Details of this event will be announced closer to the Airshow. The Mosquito will be departing Hamilton on Sunday June 16th at about 10:00 am to appear at a special commitment in Washington D.C.

Great news on the Mosquito coming to the Hamilton Show in June! Making it harder to forego this one for the same Weekend's Thunder Over Michigan. If Thunder announces a great theme and lineup (talking warbirds, NOT the Thunderbirds), it may be hard not to try to do one show one day and one the next.

Look forward to hearing what else is planned for the Hamilton show!

:supz:

My Dad and I are planning on attending an airshow that weekend for Father's Day. Might have to skip Thunder and go to this one. The chance of seeing the Mosquito with the Lanc and VWOC birds pretty much trumps anything else. Whether we can make it or not, hats off to CWH getting the Mossie for their show. That's going to be incredible!

Does this mean Saturday performance only?

Kind of sounds like that. But I suspect that on Sunday morning they may plan for the Mosquito to do a couple of passes at least after taking off before it departs for the Washington, DC area. The ideal would be to plan to have the Lancaster, etc. go up early and fly a couple of formation passes with the Mossie before it departs.

Very cool! It is well worth mentioning for those who don't know this Mosquito was built in Canada. Great news for Canadian enthusiasts, and the aircraft!

I am surprised no one has made note of how well the camouflage on the Mossie blends in with the background
