Yes indeed, I was jealous...

...but just for a second. Then I corrected my thoughts and had a great attitude! When I saw these guys flying towards me over downtown San Antonio this day, I initially thought just for a second how fun it would be to be flying that - but then I remembered that I have a great job and a great opportunity to influence the guys who might be flying 40 years from now.

So, I was taking up a 15 year-old and his father for a discovery flight out of Stinson for the flight school. We were circling over downtown San Antonio, then I decided that I would take him over towards Ft. Sam Houston where we celebrated 100 years of military aviation earlier in the week - and I was telling him about the significance of the event and being overhead of that locationg. Right then and there I saw these two fast movers about 500 feet above me and a mile or so out passing from 11 o'clock to 3 o'clock and I was able to snap this shot (with a borrowed camera) at the last moment... VERY neat.

Instead of being jealous, I am grateful to live in the same city where these reside, grateful that there are folks able to keep flying them, grateful for a good job and a great view.

Wow! That must have been quite the sight to see!
What did the 15 year-old think when he saw them?

I think they didn't spot them nearly as quickly as I did, or understand the significance. I think they were VERY impressed by how fast I scrambled for the camera.... The dad said later that he was happy to see an instructor who was passionate and enthusiastic about aircraft. I think it maybe was a little worse (meaning nuts!) than that, but at least they put a good spin on it!

And wasn't today the anniversary of the end of some sort of minor fracas involving an adobe church filled with anti Mexican miscreants?

We flew over that, too. I just didn't shoot any pictures. Probably should have.
