Peter Vacher's lovely Hurricane I R4118 / G-HUPW departed Cambridge Airport for the 10-mile ferry flight to Duxford about half an hour ago.

Tomorrow will be its first public display, in the very capable hands of Pete Kynsey.

This aircraft is a genuine Battle of Britain veteran, having been recovered from outside a technical school in India and restored to fly by Hawker Restorations.

Enjoy....... :)

Amazing. The planes recovered from India looked pretty rough. How many years did it take to get it flying?

Mudge the anxious

You'll get to see her Mudge, but only on static (unless you're there on the Friday arrivals day)

Is Peter related to Polly?

I did an oil change on her Piper when she stopped in to Bedford, MA U.S.A. just prior to her finishing the round the world trip.

She did not make it into Old Warden when I was there a few years ago.

Great Pics, Thanks!

Mike--

What a gorgeous machine, thanks for sharing those pix. Takes me back 21 years (almost to the day, coincidentally) to an evening at Mt.Hope and the offloading of a pristine dismantled Hurricane from the aft ramp of a CC-130 Hercules--in nearly the same markings as Mr Vacher's bird (UP:A instead of UP:W)...and that shot of her sifting by in a bank against a grey sky: saw that so many times (the codes being YO:A by then). Pleasant memories, even if they're kind of melancholy now!

S.
