I was watching the movie 1941 the other night and was noticing the nose of the B-17 ...It looked like a E Model. who's B-17 is this ? Some one told me once that this was the CAFs B-17 Sentimental Journey in her early years before having the correct nose installed. the Three B-25's looked like they were J Model's who's owned them ? Who's P-40 that Capt Wild Bill Kelso (And Don't you forget it) flew in ?

P-40 was Tom Camp's who also was the pilot.
Steve Hinton ran the Twin Beech around on the ground.
The P-40/Twin Beech scene was filmed at Indian Dunes.
The B-17 scene with the bomb rolling and blowing up was done at Long Beech Airport.
The T-6s were the west coast Skytypers in that scene in LB.

Don't Be A Dilbert!

The Long Beach Airport scene was filmed at the old National Guard ramp on Spring Street. It was just west of where I was pumping avgas at the time. The studio left the plywood, "Army Air Corps, Daugherty Field," sign in place when they finished and for the longest time, I contemplated a midnight requisition. I never did and the sign quickly deteriorated. Last time I flew into LGB was in a 757 probably five years ago and the Guard ramp area is all gone now.

I recall reading that Rudy Frasca's Illinois-based P-40 was used for some cockpit or "pick up shots" with Beluishi while he was in Chicago filming "The Blues Brothers".

My heavens, is that an early tramp stamp on her vertical fin? Somebody better ready the ER, a bunch of WIXers are gonna be having massive chest pains.

Speaking of Sentimental Journey, something I've always wondered about: What's the deal with the blue-tinted plexi panel in the top turret? Always looks so out of place on an otherwise strikingly authentic looking restoration. Assume it's a bit of compromise in return for UV protection......?

PIC, Ford 6600 pulling Rhino batwing up and down the runway

3 P-40's were used for the filming with Tom Camp piloting 2 of them for the flying scenes.

Tom Camp's first P-40E was used for most of the flying and my Dad's second P-40E was used for the Grand Canyon scene only. Rudy Frasca's P-40 was used for the Studio scenes only.
