Anyone here ever attend any of the old Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa airshows in the early 90's? :?: I was born in 86 and I know my parents took me to this show every year. But being that young I can't remember what aircraft came to these shows during the early 90's. I went from 88-89 to 1996. All I can remember seeing is the F-4, A-6, B-1, C-5, and usually the C-121 MATS Connie showed up. Also almost every year the Blue Angels came to perform. Any chance I saw A-4's, A-7's and F-106's? This show always had a lot of current military stuff!!

If anyone has pictures that would be great too!

Thanks for the ehlp,
Nathan

I visited that show a few times. I remember the gorgeous Connie in TWA markings, an amazing F-14 demo in and out of low clouds, and F-15 buzzing the crowd, the T-Birds... I also got a tour of the CAF HE-111 and Sentimental Journey.

I may have some pictures I could scan. I'd have to go dig out the old photo album.

I vaguely remember my dad going on his own during one show and coming back and saying he talked to the P-51 pilot and he said the man flew P-51's during WWII. :D Those days of the old WWII guys still flying at airshows are gone, huh? :(

I do remember a Mig 15 and Vampire flying.

The show required you to park at a field that used to be a amusement park then get on buses that would take you to the airport. Fun rides!

Here is a list of aircraft that came in 2000. I think this was the last show they had.

Forgot to mention that during those old airshow's they used to practise behind my house. Could never see them but I could always hear the afterburner. Also remember someone doing a loop and seeing the smoke trail. My house was a good hour and a half away but of course this is a short distance for a jet fighter. This would always get be pumped for the show. Can you imagine the joy of a young boy seeing planes practise in your area for an airshow you were going to go to? It was way fun! :D

Nathan, I checked one of my old photo albums and I have around 6 or 8 pictures from the Wilkes Barre shows. I'll have to scan them.

I loved the airports location, up on a plateau it really made for great views of the performers.

That would be a great place to have a fall show with all the trees in color. We stopped in there one time for fuel coming from San Diego going to Tweeterboro.....

If it reforms, I hear that the Dunder Mifflin - a Division of Sabre, Sabre Squadron will perform. :D
