Warbird Information Exchange

Ryan Field was a WWII training base. Set up by the Ryan School of Aeronautics using PT-22s. This place was aviation archeology if I ever saw it. Going through the main entrance you passed a saguaro cactus and the airport rotating identification beacon. The wooden buildings were still there. The firehouse was wood and looked like a timber box. You can see the old hangar in the photo. I also took a photo of another building (not scanned) next to the hangar. I have no idea of what it was used for back then but it was great. Like stepping back in time. Please enjoy the photos. I enjoyed my quick time spent there.

Hey Larry, back in the late 90's when I worked there for ATTI we had a real bad wind storm/micro burst that did a lot of damage to hangers & airplanes, that old WWII hanger was virtually destroyed! I have some print photos somewhere of it but would need to do some digging so I can scan them.

If you can find the time to dig them up it would be great to see them. I found it an interesting place. I only wish I could have gone into some of the buildings just for the fun of it.
