Trying to find "Warbird Sqdn."

I wonder if you troops in the UK (or anywhere, for that matter) could help me track down an address for an outfit named "Warbird Squadron"? They have a website and an E-Mail contact but I haven't had any luck getting an answer from them about getting a ride in their 2 seater Spitfire. You might want to take a peek at it. It's a beauty.

Sooner or later I'm gonna' find a ride in a "Spit".

Hey Mudge, You might try Bill Greenwood over in Aspen Colorado, he has a two seater Spit. I don't know if he sells rides, but what the heck-worth a try.

Thanks, I've talked to Mr. Greenwood. His back seat max's out at 180 lbs and I max out at 250....Rats. I afraid my "Spit" ride ain't gonna' happen. My P-38 ride's not lookin' too promising either.
He did give me a lot of leads though. Really nice guy.
Oh well....more research.

HMMMM...things are looking a bit brighter. I just got off the phone with Brian Sanders of Sanders Aircraft Technologies in Ione, CA. He has a Sea Fury that he thinks I might fit in. I'm gonna' drop in on him when I'm in Lodi for my P-51 ride next month. See if I can fit. You can see the plane on WRG. It's called "Argonaut".
He also suggested a few places that have 2 seat P-40's

Unless you are a doublewide, you'll fit in a Sea Fury. I've ridden in 924G, their stock Sea Fury.

Brian usually flies Argonaut in an aerobatic routine at the Chino Airshow. Brian is a great pilot and an all around nice guy.

You will get a great from from Brian.

Take a throw away camera and have Brian take some photo's of you in the air. You should do the same in P-51. Who's going to give your Mustang ride if don't mind the asking?

I shouldn’t bother with this ‘Warbird Squadron’ bunch if I were you, Mudge. They appear to just display random pictures of preserved Spitfires on their website (including one owned by the RAF).

They appear to be a start-up outfit looking for funding to build some scale replicas, and don’t seem to actually have any aircraft yet. A very amateurish website, and, if I were the owner of any of the warbirds pictured, I’d get my lawyer to make sure that the pictures were removed from their site pronto!

FYI, the 2-seater Spitfire shown on their site (PT462) is owned by Anthony Hodgson and based in Wales

P-51 belongs to Bill Dause (44-73079). If you want to see it, go to:
www.mustangsmustangs.com click on the P-51 link and go to page 3 of the P-51D listings. It'll be the second one on that page. It's black.
As far as pictures go, I've got a Nikon Cool-Pix 950 (digital) that I think would be perfect.

I kinda' suspected that they weren't too professional when I couldn't even get a "go to hell" out of 'em after 3 e-mails. Plus the fact that a physical address is nowhere to be found.
Thanks for the heads up. Hope to meet you at Flying Legends. Mrs. Mudge thinks going out to the field on arrivals day is an excellent idea. Sure is nice that she's as enthusiastic about warbirds as I am....well almost :lol:

Well I'm fat, but not big. Does that make sense?

Cost was no object with me at the time. It was back in the good old days when you could sit in the back as an "observer" during the airshow. My observer's fee balanced my cost.

Mudge - I know of the "Warbird Squadron" you mentioned, and they're a crock of sh*t. I did some digging around and was told (by the owner of the site, no less) that they were having a 90% scale Spitfire Mk28 built by the Supermarine company in Australia. Not only that, but it was a DUAL-CONTROL aircraft, too!

I get in touch with Supermarine (I have a contact there) and guess what? They've never heard of a Spitfire 28, much less one being built by them!!

"Warbird Squadron" = plague. Avoid it.
