I am starting to search for the history of a particular SNV. The last FAA registration is a NC- type registration. When did the FAA stop using that type of registration? And where would the records for those numbers be?

Found the block of serial numbers with the Naval History. So that is going in the right direction. Went to the FAA website and it seems to offer a search of current registrations. Nothing for an A/C not registered for 50 or so years.
