According to the status page at the OV-1 Mohawk Association site, OV-1A 59-2617 is on display in St. Francis, MN. Does anybody know where it is displayed? I may have to make a trip out that way to find it next weekend if the weather is good.

Hi Dan,

Don't know about that one, but I do know where the one in Duluth is, which isn't too far north of you.

It is in pretty sad shape though, being used in Aircraft Fire Fighting and Rescue training at the school there. That's the same place that my brother Dave and I "rescued" an F-84F out of. The one that Brian Reynolds now owns out in Washington. (And I think he's still looking for parts for that sad old bird too if anybody knows of any....)

Good luck on your drive, and please tell us what you find. (Photos would be good too. :D )

Steve

Thanks Steve, I hadn't noticed that one on the list. I'll have to see if I can find that one next time I head up to Duluth. Do you have any photos of it?

Yep, although they aren't digital and I am scanner-less at present. Shoot me your mailing address and I'll zip some over to you via Government Mule.

Let me know before you head up there and I will give you a contact name and number so you can get into the property. There are a few shot up Coast Guard helo's in the enclosure along with an old Cessna 402 Businessliner, (courtesy of me...in trade for the F-84F), and some other stuff.

I finally had a chance to go out and find the St. Francis Mohawk this weekend. The Mohawk is on display at American Legion post 622 at 3073 Bridge St Nw. The Mohawk is OV-1A 59-2617, though it is painted in the markings of 59-2622, an OV-1D. This Mohawk was one of a batch of 6 deployed to Vietnam in 1963 for operational testing with the 23rd Special Air Warfare Division. Scott, as usual feel free to grab these for the registry.
