To the "Powers That Be": I have tried for (it turns out) 4 years now to get what's going on with Warbirds Online. I've been wanting/willing to become a larger part of that site right from the get-go other than the little weekly Military/Aviation History post I've been doing all this time. You know I have tried the "backchannel" approach of PMs, E-Mails and even face-to-faces at Jenny. Frankly, I've tired of this route and waiting for resolution so I decided to put my frustration out here for all to see once and for all. Last week I started my post out with a mini-rant asking the Folks there (if there indeed are any) to come here on WIX and find out what's going on with W/O. Absolutely nothing appears to have happened with that and it is very disappointing. Now I really feel alone in this matter. I sincerely feel it is a terrible waste of a fantastic resource and anything I could do to "grow" it would be a good thing. I've had to learn on my own enough to be able to navigate what little I do. I have been told time and again it will get better and I will be properly trained. No joy. I know you Folks are insanely busy and I understand that, but I've reached the point of no return once again and this time may very well be the last. I really don't want to stop doing what I'm doing and watch the site completely stop dead, but at the same time I really need an answer to be able to continue. And please, this time back up your words with actions. Imagine what it would have been like if I was properly trained 4 years ago. Before I stop, do any of you WIXers visit that site? Do you even know about it? I'll stop now and wait.........again.

Tom K.

Hey Tom,

Whenever I get to updating us-aircraft.com you can send me whatever and I'll get it up. Its up to you if you want it on the site or forum. Just an idea.

Tom-

I'm sorry... but what is Warbirds Online.. where is it, what is it supposed to do....... perhaps the problem is that you have assumed that folks know what you are talking about... don't assume... what are you talking about?

I would agree with the statement above. I've been a member here for vastly more than four years and I think I may have heard of WO maybe five or six times... although I have actually visited it many more times than that.

Well I guess that answers one of my questions. I was hoping for more folks to be familiar with it. As you look around, think of the potential this site would have with consistent input.

For starters, I'm not sure that it isn't a bit redundant for some of the folks here. The "news" there and at other sites usually lags, and while the this day in history posts are appreciated, it isn't really fulfilling the site's stated mission. I think it's a case of the chicken and the egg deal. It needs consistent regular commentary to be more viable, but that takes a bit more investment, which I think I understand is what you were hoping to accomplish if you had permission.

I think that for me, news will be faster through and message boards and other "social media' sites, while commentary would be a very good direction to take Warbirds Online.

When I read the title of this thread, I am reminded of the "Chuck Norris" aviation jokes that were so vogue 6-9 years ago:

Quote:
Chuck Norris doesn't request clearance, he states intentions

...adapted to the USAF pilot training class patch:

Sorry for the OT post, but it seems as if this entire thread is just as much nonsense.

OK Moderators, do your job and remove this useless thread. I'm done. Thanks all of you for your "support". The line was from "Apollo 13".
