Hey all you guys in the Southern Ontario region. I just heard, and I know it is late notice, that Mountainview is holding an RC Fly In this weekend (12-13 June) The last time I went I was able to walk around all the aircraft in storage and take lots of photos. This is about the only chance you will get to see inside Mountainview so if you can make it you better go. I can't make tomorrow but I have a buddy that will let me know what it is like. If it is good I will head down early Sunday.

This is a link to some of the images I took in 2002.

Thanks Eric,

I checked out the Fan Jet Rally this morning at CFS Mountainview. I have been past there a few times lately and I haven't seen too much aircraft movement.

I took a few pics and posted them to webshots.

I imagine they will be shipping the soon to be retired CH113 Lab's there in time for next years rally.

Mike,

Thanks for the fast post on the photos. Not much has chanced since I was there two years ago.

Eric

I can't believe I missed another opportunity to visit the base again!!

For those who have been to CFB Mountainview...are there any CF100 Canuck still in storage or on guardian duties at the base? I think the majority of the aircraft are the Tutors, T-birds and Freedom Fighters but is any others still there?

CF-100s are long gone as well as the Voodoos. I have some b/w pics of chopped up Voodoos at Crawford Metals in Belleville. There are still Kiowas there, my buddy has a bid in on one but they will not let him pick it up yet.

Quite a number of Voodoo were saved for display in Canada. I figure more that half at least of the purchased group...does anyone have any listing of survivors for the Voodoo in Canada?

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

West of Peterborough on highway 7. Just check it out on a road map. Look for the airport on the west side of town.

I think Steve Tournay mentioned that the CWH looked at this one but opted for the one at Uplands. Perhaps whoever owns the one in Lindsay is looking to sell?

Hailing Steve Tournay... Do you know if the status/location of the Lindsay CF-101 has changed?

Thanks Mike.

I will check it out next weekend on the way back from the GTA...would it be in the same park as the Sabre that is in Peterborough?

No no no... The Sabre is within the city limits near the zoo. The Voodoo is a Lindsay which is west of Peterborough by a number of miles (I just forget how many). The "Airpark" at Lindsay is really just a municipal airport. Once you find it, it should stand out.

Eric,

Will you sneak one of those Tutors out of there for me? Just bring a trailer and when they ask about the Tutor claim it is a RC model!

Thanks,

Jim
