The October 2010 Desktop Calendars and Wallpapers are now available from the Warbird Depot website (http://www.warbirddepot.com/desktop_calendars.asp), this month includes:

1. Vintage Wings of Canada’s combat veteran and award winning Curtiss P-40N-1 Kittyhawk (RAAF A29-414), being flown by Gavin Trethewey, near Ardmore, New Zealand during a post restoration test flight. It is painted in the markings of James F. "Stocky" Edwards of No. 260 Squadron, Canada’s highest scoring surviving fighter pilot with 20 victories and 6 probables.

2. Restored by Midwest Aero to nearly exact production condition, Bruce Winters’ N.A. P-51D Mustang “Happy Jacks Go Buggy” (S/N 44-74452) is being flown by Al Schiffer over Pyramid Lake, NV. This Mustang won Grand Champion at Oshkosh in 2008 as well as the Golden Wrench Award.

3. Nelsen Ezell flying Jim Smith's Vought F4U-5N Corsair during a Warbird Digest photo shoot over Crystal Lakes, MT.

4. Dennis Sanders is seen flying the Sanders Family’s beautifully restored Naval Aircraft Factory N3N over its home base at Eagles Nest airport in Ione, CA. The N3N was the last biplane to see service with the United States and the last mass-produced aircraft built by the Naval Aircraft Factory.

5. Dan Vance's N.A. P-51D Mustang "Speedball Alice" (S/N 44-74389 N64824) on the ramp at the 2010 National Championship Air Races with P-51D Mustangs "Lady Jo" and "Wee Willy II" taking off during an evening formation flight.

6. Cavanaugh Flight Museum’s Grumman OV-1D Mohawk, being flown by Stewart Dawson and Steve Sheridan, over Lake Ray Roberts near Denton, Texas. The OV-1D was designed for the pilot and observer to look down during observation missions, therefore looking up was a challenge as can be seen by Stewart looking through the roof to fly formation on the camera ship.

7. John Maloney flying Rudy Frasca's Focke Wulf FW 190A-9 “What Da Focke Wulf" (80574 N190RF) during the Medallion 1C race on Thursday, September 16 at the 2010 National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV.

8. The Canadian Harvard Formation Team on a dawn practice flight over Geneseo, New York. Flying lead is Greg Burnard, #2 Edward Soye, #3 Tony Donnelly, #4 Bill Sheppard.

9. Heather “Lucky” Penney, daughter of air racing legend John Penney, rounding Pylon 2 at the 2010 National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV in Aero Vodochody L-29 Delfin "Raju Grace". Owned by Deane Barker and Raju Mann Ward, race 21 debuted at Reno in its new dramatic paint scheme. Penney is currently an F-16 pilot for the DC ANG and finished 3rd during the Silver Jet race.

10. Paul Kissmann flying the Vintage Wings of Canada’s Vought FG-1D Corsair in formation with Don Schofield and Leon Evans flying the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Avro Lancaster Mk. X during a Victoria Cross Flight at the 2010 Wings Over Gatineau Airshow.

11. Dan Card of Fresno CA., flying his Czech Aircraft Works “Mermaid” at Lakeport, Clear Lake, during the annual 2009 Seaplane Splash-In.

12. Shot during Red Flag 04-08, this Rafale B, now known as the F2, of EC1/7 Squadron, Armee de L’Air of France, is seen launching off runway 03R at Nellis AFB during 2008. The Rafale has been deployed to Afghanistan since 2007 and is currently carrying Precision Guided Munitions such as the GBU-12, and air-to-air Magic II missiles as seen on this aircraft, during the war on terrorism.
