This framed etched glass is hanging on the wall in the Acey Deucey bar in Oshkosh, apparently a gift to the bar from Jimmy Leeward, or a member of his krewe.

I gather it's either a list of kills, or a list of items that the Leeward clan scorns in favor of a Mustang.

Any ideas as to what the joke really is?

Yep - I checked.

I was actually wondering if there was something on the back of the frame that might add to the joke or something (it's typical in the fighter community to put a more obscene version of a photo on the back), but alas it was bolted down.

I'd think that by now the staff at the Deucey is smart enough to bolt everything down that they don't want taken or damaged!

I've sent an inquiry to some of the EAA staff to see if they know anything (Jimmy has been a board member for many many years).

The kill farthest to the right bears a striking resemblance to both Pushy Cat and Pushy Galore:

Is it even remotely possible that Mr. Leeward thinks Mustangs are better than Pushy?

On the left looks like Steve Wittman's Tailwind. All four can be linked to racing of some kind.

From what I remember Jimmy telling me, those are vehicles he has beaten in standing start drag races.

Seens to me Jimmy don't think anything but Unlimiteds should race at Reno. Needs to be brought up to date and have a Jet X'd out also.

Talking to Jimmy, it seems I was mostly correct. He raced Wittman in his Tailwind from the end of the runway to Wittman's house at Leeward Air Ranch standing start. The T-6 and Corvette races were at Troy, Alabama, standing start to the end of the runway. The Pushy Galore was a standing start race to 3000 ft Lakeland during Sun 'N Fun.

Very good, thanks for finding that out!

Sherman's black Super T-6 that Leeward raced at Troy is still undefeated in a drag race.

I just showed Denny the pic of the plaque...

Leeward must be thinking of a different T-6!

Ryan,

Ask Jim about that!

Thanks!

I have owned a C-3 (81), a C-4 (91) and a C-5 (01), at one point all at once (there IS a pattern there). The C-3 got 170 hp out of a 350 cui engine. The C-4 was just a little better, and the C-5 gets 400 as I have it set up. The technology change over 20 years is incredible.
I MIGHT stand a chance with the C-5, if it was a short distance, but will never get the chance!
