The Restoration Project Manager is responsible for oversight of all restorations of vintage aircraft and vehicles worldwide in various vendor facilities. In addition this position will facilitate other FHC special projects and will provide hands on assistance to the maintenance team.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult with vendors to discuss and formulate restoration estimates
Collaborate with Project Specialist on drafting contracts for restorations
Assess cost of restoration projects and track actual costs relative to bids
Confer with vendors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
Visit and evaluate restoration projects on a regular basis and monitor progress
Produce regular reports of progress of restoration projects
Set up cost initial monitoring and reporting systems and procedures in collaboration with the Project Specialist
Plan and oversee special projects such as ordering large components, restoring aircraft engines and overhauling propellers
Actively foster and maintain relationships with members of the restoration community and warbird operators
Research and procure vintage aircraft parts and equipment
Coordinate shipping of FHC aircraft and major artifacts within and outside the USA
Coordinate the resources for the FHC Restoration Team
Conduct maintenance of vintage aircraft in conjunction with the FHC maintenance team
Provide hands on assistance to the vintage aircraft maintenance team
Assist in the planning of vintage aircraft and tanks maintenance
Assist in the planning of aircraft and tank operations
Act as a core member of the FHC Management Team'
Assist with physical inventories of FHC assets
Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability

Work with vendors to ensure that the restoration produces an aircraft or other military artifact as authentic to the original as possible while still meeting current FAA or relevant requirements
Work with colleagues to facilitate the internal management of restoration projects (e.g., contracts, accounts payable, shipping etc.)
Regularly travel to vendors facilities to monitor the restoration process and resolve any issues that may arise
Project management of restoration and special projects
Assist with hands on maintenance of aircraft in collection
Document progress on restorations and report to supervisor

Required


An understanding and ability to perform aircraft restorations
Knowledge of aviation with emphasis on vintage military aircraft
Knowledge and direct experience of vintage aircraft maintenance
Excellent planning, time management, presentation and interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and personable demeanor
Knowledge and experience with sheet metal: forming, riveting, heat-treating, etc.
Knowledge and experience in fabric repair and replacement on vintage aircraft
Knowledge of vintage aircraft engines and their restoration

Preferred

· Experience piloting vintage aircraft

· IA certification

· Experience with sourcing, restoring and operating vintage tanks



Required computer skills

MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Education/experience/certifications

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and 10 plus years relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
A&P certificate plus 10 years relevant experience
IA certificate preferred

Special remarks regarding work environment, if applicable

· Domestic and international travel required.

· Travel estimated to be 20%
