The March 2011 Desktop Calendars and Wallpapers are now available from the Warbird Depot website (http://www.warbirddepot.com/desktop_calendars.asp), this month includes:

1. Neal Melton flying his Vietnam veteran Douglas A-1H Skyraider "Lieutenant America" (BuNo. 139665) which was flown by 1st Lt. Randy Scott in Vietnam and recently rebuilt by Westpac Restorations in Colorado Springs, CO. It is now flown regularly by Neal at his base, the Tennessee Museum of Aviation in Sevierville, TN.

2. Ray Foster and Don Brooks flying the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress “Liberty Belle” over the Golden Gate Bridge. Oddly, just after this pass was made protesters demanding a free Tibet took over the bridge and raised big banners on the towers - closing the bridge and the surrounding airspace! George Hulett was flying the Air Classics camera plane.

3. Taigh Ramey and Hugo Mathys take a flight over the Sacramento Valley in the Beech Expeditor 3NM that was restored by Ramey's Vintage Aircraft in Stockton, prior to making a flight to Mathys' home in Grenchen, Switzerland via Greenland. N223CM started life in 1952 with the Royal Canadian Air Force as RCAF 2344 (A-873/ CA-223) and was disposed of in 1970.

4. Steve Hinton flying Comanche Fighters’ North American A-36A Apache over Chino, CA for an Air Classics magazine photo shoot during the 2010 Planes of Fame Airshow.

5. Russell Aviation Group’s rare Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 (C-FEML), being flown by Walter Eichorn, over Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The Bf 109 is powered by a rare Daimler Benz DB601 and is painted in Hans-Joachim Marseille’s colors as White 14.

6. Dan Fordice pilots his P-51 over the Mississippi river, just a few miles from his home base, where he held the Southern Heritage Airshow located at the Vicksburg-Tallulah airport. Dan's Mustang is painted in the colors of "Charlotte's Chariot II"; a Mustang that fellow Mississippian Cary Salter flew in World War 2. Salter was even at the airshow to be seen with "his" Mustang.

7. Mark Awad's Pratt & Whitney R-985 powered CAC Winjeel shot from Doug Schuster's T-6 camera plane outside of Santa Anna, CA. The aircraft is now with Mark in Australia.

8. Keith Skilling (in the rear cockpit) is seen here flying Doug Brooker’s (in the front) Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 near Ardmore, in Auckland. The aircraft had just competed flight testing following importation into New Zealand by Doug. An accomplished aerobatic pilot, Doug flew a display at Ardmore in December 2010 and left the crowd speechless.

9. The DH Dragon Rapide, owned by Jerry Yagen is caught flying over the Hauraki Gulf area near Auckland with test pilot Dave Phillips at the controls. New Zealand based restorer Avspecs restored the aircraft, and Managing Director Warren Denholm is on board in this photo. The G is missing on the fuselage as the aircraft has a US registration but displays a British registration on the side which is not allowed in NZ so the G was covered up during the aircraft's time flying in New Zealand.

10. An F-16C Fighting Falcon assigned to 343 Mira Squadron of the Hellenic (Greek) Air Force departs Nellis AFB, Nevada during Red Flag 09-1. Purchased under the Peace Xenia III program, 34 examples were delivered between 2002 and 2004. The Hellenic Block 52 airframes are unique in that they are equipped with a search light on the starboard side of the fuselage (similar to Canadian CF-18s). They are also equipped with a tail mounted brake parachute system for conditions such as icy and/or short runway landings.

11. Robert Brunn flying his Fly Baby 1A “Grampa’s Toy” (C-GQYN) on September 21 2009 at The Tiger Boys Fly-In in Guelph, Ontario.

12. The Collings Foundation McDonnell Douglas F-4D Phantom and McDonnell Douglas TA-4J Skyhawk along with Warbird Heritage Foundations McDonnell Douglas A-4B Skyhawk perform a flyby at the 2010 EAA AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI.
