Latest P-38 newsletter - great new Glacier Gal recoveryshots

If you use the navigation buttons there's a ton of piccies buried in there.

Perhaps those shots have been around a while but they're new to me. Does anyone know if the original guns were installed in Glacier Gal?
I heard a report at the time of recovery that they were tossed away because they couldn't be imported into the US. Hope they found a way in the end.

the cannon was cleaned up, hooked to a battery & fired w/ an original round. it was fired at a 55 gallon fuel drum. as to having to dispose of them via atf regs, i have no clue.

Yes, they are the original .50's and 20MM cannon. They have been made inert due to regulations, but they are the originals.
