Does anybody know the history of the new Hellcat project at Yanks? Picture taken Feb 11, 2011.

Yanks site says it's BuNo 40467

Baugher site says:

40467 (c/n A-1733) reported in 1969 at Victory Air Museum, Mundelein, IL

I thought that the F6F remains from there was what was left of the Alex Vraciu (apologies if I spelt that wrong) airplane, now in Duxford?

My failing memory tells me that 1/2 of the VAM Hellcat, recovered from Illinois by POF, went to Bob Pond's Hellcat and the remainder went to Yanks.

Here's what the registry says:

This one has been on rebuild at Yanks for a few years now. I believe it uses the 'left over bits' and the identity of N100TF (now with TFC at Duxford)

Does that ex CAF F6F aileron on the floor have anything to do with it's provenance?

Does anyone know what remains from POF F6F that crashed in 2005 (or close to that year) in TN?

I'm excited to see that another Hellcat might be come up to a life in the air...At least I can hope.

In storage I'd guess. I'd not heard that the wreckage was scrapped anyhow.

So does this "new" Hellcat have a Buno given to it? Either way I'm just thrilled to see another Hellcat taking shape. I hope it ends up on the east coast.
