Looking for info and any pictures of a C-45 Beechcraft with a "Red Devil" painted on the nose. I obtained the nose from Gary's estate and I would like to know the history of the aircraft. The nose art was probably done in the last 30 years, and I believe the aircraft to be a post WWII Navy variant: SNB. Thanks, Van

Hi Van,
One possibility is the following civil D18S: NC1501 c/n A-140 deliv to Continental Can Company, NY, NY 12Apr46. Rereg’d N1501K 15Oct54. Red Devil Tool Co, Irvington, NJ BS Oct54. Had Red Devil nose art. Rereg’d N1313G(2) 15Mar55. Donated to Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Returned to Red Devil Tools & then donated 14Sep60 to the National Air Museum, Smithsonian Institution. Stored outside at Silver Hill, Suitland, MD & photographed there Jan76. Shortly thereafter reduced to parts & disposed of by NASM. Still had the smiling red devil front face view (on white background surrounded by two concentric black cirlces on natural metal nose on port nose in '76 photo). Just aft of the nose art was the red Beech birdstripe. I have that photo & seval others.
Regards,
Bob Parmerter, Beech 18 Historian
