1. John Lamont is captured in the skies over Omaka during the delivery flight to Auckland, New Zealand of The Fighter Factory’s recently acquired Lavochkin La-9. Restored by Pioneer Aero Restorations, it is currently the only La-9 airworthy in the world today.
2. Matt “Action” Jackson positions Peter Hambling’s beautifully restored On Mark Marketeer “Sexy Sue” (S/N:44-35562, NL7079G) for a Warbirds International photo shoot over the Pacific Ocean off the California coast.
3. Dennis Sanders flying Chuck Greenhill’s Cavalier F-51D Mustang “Lou IV” over the undercast near Ione, CA. prior to the 2010 National Championship Air Races. Painted in the markings of Col. Thomas J. J. Christian, Group Commander of the 361st Fighter Group “Yellowjackets”, Lou IV is certainly one of the most famous World War II P-51s.
4. Nathan Clark flying his Harvard just south of Christchurch, NZ. The aircraft is based in the South Island and was imported into New Zealand from South Africa when the type was retired in that country. It carries the registration ZK-XSA, a good reminder of this aircraft’s past.
5. San Diego pilot Michael Steel gets some air in a replica 1911 Curtiss A-1 Triad seaplane on San Diego Bay to open the 100th anniversary celebration of naval aviation at the North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado. Normally hanging from the ceiling on display in the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park, the Triad had a loaned OX-5 engine installed for the event.
6. Chris Galloway flies his 1936 Waco YQC near Woodland, CA. and bases it at Yolo County Airport. This airplane was the first YQC to be built and was the prototype for the series YQC, ZQC and AQC (all the same airframe, different engines). It was sold new and was used as a corporate transport until World War II, and then used during the war for submarine patrol on the East coast.
7. Jim Dale flying the Palm Spring Air Museum’s rare Bell P-63A Kingcobra “Pretty Polly”, John-Curtiss Paul in the Warhawk Air Museum’s Curtiss P-40N Warhawk “Parrothead”, John Maloney in the Planes of Fame Air Museum’s Curtiss P-40N Warhawk, and Mark Moodie flying Ken Wagner’s N.A. P-51D Mustang “Lady Alice” over Chino, CA in preparation for the 2009 Planes of Fame Airshow.
8. Jim Ricketts flies Dave Statham's 1942 Stinson L-5 Sentinel “Super Snooper” during the Vintage Aircraft and Collings Foundation's Bomber Crew Fantasy Camp near Stockton Field, CA. Jim flew patrol for the B-24 Liberator while they dropped dummy bombs on a target located on a nearby farm.
9. Daryl Bond’s N.A. TF-51D Mustang "Lady Jo", being flown by Robbie Patterson, and Steve Hinton’s N.A. P-51D Mustang “Wee Willy II", being flown by Mark Moodie, taking off for an evening formation flight at the 2010 National Championship Air races in Reno, NV.
10. 1943 De Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth II “Audrey” (C/N 86508) flypast at the Gathering of the Classics at Edenvale, Ontario on August 7, 2010.
11. Canadian Armed Forces CC-177 Globemaster III landing on Runway 24 at CFB Trenton after a training mission on December 9, 2010.
12. Rich Sugden’s Canadair Sabre Mk 5, being flown by Dale "Snort" Snodgrass, at the 2010 EAA AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI.
