I found this information today... Who lives in Del Rio that can get us some pics?

The Hawaii Mars (C-FLYL) will be departing Sproat Lake on Vancouver
Island,British Columbia on Friday or Saturday to help battle wildfires in
Mexico.
The Mars will be on a 20 day contract for now and will be operating out
of Armistad Reservoir in Del Rio,Texas.
Hawaii Mars will join Tanker #979 and two(2)MAFF C-130's which continue
to work these fires out of Texas.

That sounds interesting. I would love to be able to be at Lake Amistad in Del Rio to see the Mars fly in and out. Hope we can get some updates on this and some good photos/videos.

I am about an hour and a half from there, but the problem would be where are they operating from. That is one huge lake. But maybe I need to make a run over there just for good measure.

Wonder if the drug cartels will nab the Mars for a drug runner if they catch it on the Mexican side? It would make a heck of a good fishing boat for a bass tournament if it is on the American side.

Had to do an unscheduled engine change. Was out flying around yesterday shaking off the cob webs. Should be there by the end of today or tomorrow if no other problems arise.

Any idea if they will file a flight plan and that the call sign will be. I know the Mars Hawaii is C-FLYL, is that what they would typically use?

There was an article posted online here in Lake Elsinore saying that the Mars would be here for a fuel stop over the weekend but it has yet to show up.

Used to be, left a couple years ago for greener pastures. I never flew in it so no aerial shots. If I find some interesting ones of ground maintenance or working on the water I'll post.

The Martin Mars left Lake Elsinore this morning and flew over French Valley Airport at about 8:30am local time this morning. It was low and slow. Sounded great.
