Anyone know of any instances of this technique being used in recent times?

I think a couple months ago a crew did something similar with a CRJ that had a stuck nose wheel. Once the mains were firmly planted the nose wheel dropped down into place.

In the 80's, Sandy Sansing was checking out Ray Harper in one of John Stoke's A-26's (N3222T). The nose and one main came down, but the other main wouldn't come down and lock. Sandy tried positive and negative G's, and bouncing the locked main on the runway, to no avail. Ray was also busy getting blisters from the wobble pump. Just as they decided to come in for a one-main landing, Ray hit the wobble pump one last time and the errant main locked!
