More amature questions: P-51 or F-86

Tue May 10, 2011 3:23 pm

What warbird appeals to you more? P-51 or F-86 and why. Which one is more complex to fly, maintain? cost of operation? etc. Which one, if restored to the same level, would be more valuable? These are very general amature questions again, but please feel free to elaborate in far more educated answers if you wish. Just don't fly too far over my simplistic head ... lol ... and don't ask me to go do research, I'm too lazy

If I had a choice between the two? ...... P-51 easy. :D I'm assuming the F-86 is far more complex and expensive but just as easy, if not more to fly, than the P-51 ...

86 is more complex, different models vary in complexity, uses more fuel, requires more maintenance, more limitations in where you operate, experimental category vs limited, more restrictive licensing to fly it.
It is one of Steve Hinton's favorites though.
Both are cool and represent a moment of being America's finest products in a world of turmoil.

As soon as our Mustang is finished, I'll give you the smile factor from the pilots faces between the two.
