This was posted over on the HyperScale modeling forum this morning. Great footage of Allied bombers landing in Switzerland during the war, as well as footage of Willi Mutke's ME-262 landing in 1945. The archival footage starts around the 42 second mark.

PS: It's all in German.

I was thinking the same thing, Herr Giger looks like he was telling quite a story, and judging by he look on his face he came out on top.

The German nightfighter ace Wilhelm Jochen writes of his Bf110 being forced down in Switzerland on 28 April 1944 due to battle damage (Duel Under The Stars, chapter XIV).

He and his radio man were repatriated the next month and they were arrested by the Gestapo along with their families. He learned that he was to be shot for treason on Himmler's orders, and only Goering's intervention prevented this. He was eventually released and returned to action. He says that his plane with the radar equipment was blown up by a German agent on the airfield at Zurich-Dubendorf to prevent anyone examining the radar.

The footage starting around 5:45 seems to show this, but I don't speak German. Can anyone confirm it?

Dozens and dozens of American bombers with 'yellow' crews chose to land in Switzerland and Norway with 'engine' difficulties. There were plenty with valid reasons as well.., I can not say how I would react as I have, fortunately, never been in combat.

The exception rather than the rule.
