Probably brought up here before but:
Did the Soviet Air Force ever have any engagements with the Japanese Air Force during World War II? Either by aerial combat or strafing one another did anything like this happen during the war? Thanks in advance!

Tho outside the scope of your post, there was the Battle of Khalkin Gol, also known as the Second Sino-Japanese War where quite an aerial dustup involved the two. WW2 in the Pacific may have taken on a different trajectory if the Japanese had won against the Soviets..
