Just confirmed an hour ago, the 8th B-17 Flying Fortress (yep count them....eight Forts) is being added to the 2005 Thunder Over Michigan line-up.
"Chuckie" will make the long pilgrimage to the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport to join the other 7 confirmed B-17's gathering on August 6th and Sunday, August 7th.
The addition of this B-17 will set a post-WWII record for the number of B-17's gathered in one location. Previously seven Forts held the record.
Don't miss this extraordinary attempt at a world record.
It will probably be the last time in history that such a gathering of B-17's will exist. :D

Time to book my room!

I can't wait, I may need to pick up a 4G memory card for my camera before that show!

Although I don't yet own a digital, I would think it would be better to carry 4 x 1G memory cards. Why? Lets say you have everything on one card and it become damaged. Say no more!

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Eight B-17s should be very impressive! I am looking forward to it. I don't wish to be morbid about the YAF's losses in the last year, but how will the missing hanger affect the layout of aircraft parking on site?

Hi All,

I've been looking forward to this show since it was announced. It just keeps getting better and better.

Mike,
The ramp layout is virtually unaffected by the loss of the hangar. The burn site is nearing completion of the clean up and we expect only a construction fence around the old hangar site by show time.

I like that idea!

Hmmm
How about Boeing Bee N17W (the only B-17F that could take to the air), Miss Angela N3509G, Shady Lady N207EV.

Ok, so I’m dreaming now.

To the Chuckie crew, Sierra Hotel on that effort to get her back in the air and getting her to Thunder of Michigan!
