The Early Evening News From Duxford ~ July 2nd & 3rd 2011

Sat Jul 02, 2011 12:44 pm

No ! No ! Skip the commercials and the weather forecast ~ people wanna see the NEWS !

Today's report comes from the Fighter Collections facility at Duxford.

For those who've not visited the airfield ~ there is a public walk way snaking through the hangar for museum visitors to
watch and photograph the action in a real warbird haven. All today's pix were taken from the pathway.

This was the first time I've been in there and taken pictures to the accompaniment of Nessun Dorma sung by Pavarotti

So with the hangar rocking ~ let's get rolling ..... I really can't believe [A] I just wrote that and [B] I left it in !

Oh my ..... just how much fun could you have popping this amout of bubble wrap ?

This must be the best seat in the house

Image

These two pix are just for Mudge ~ the hangar really does roll both ways .....

Image

But it's nothing that can't be cured with seasick pills

Image

Even Stephen Grey takes time out to watch these boys at work .....

I'm becoming more and more convinced that these boys are actually from out of town .....

And finally ~ We bring you a dramatic shot of what must be the most ambitious conversion of a
Beech Staggerwing ever attempted !

More soon

The whole Chino clan is at Duxford! Nothing will happen at Chino for next two weeks with all the talent at Duxford. ! Thanks for the great updates Bomberflight, I am sure I am not the only one who really appreciates the updates from Dx, almost as they happen.

I love the updates, they make the atlantic almost dissappear....I have some friends over there I need to get over to see and it's been 10 years since I've been there as of this week....maybe time to renew the passport and get to THE BIG SHOW next summer.....I have a Pedigree beer bottle here in the apartment that has been dry for 9 years and 51 weeks....I'm in DIRE need of another or a Spitfire ale...either will do.
