Does anyone have a copy or the text of the orders given in late July(?) of '44 calling for the removal of the invasion stripes from the top surfaces of all Allied aircraft? I would like to know the exact wording of the orders and their exact date of issue. You can see the removed (painted over) portions of the invasion stripes on this L-5:

Thanks,

I also noticed that the underwing stripes have also been painted over. You can see the paint on the leading edge.

I don't have the exact text but on 22 june 1944, the HQ Allied Expeditionary Air force gave the information to remove the upper parts of invasion stripes on PIPER AIRCRAFT.
This allow them a better camouflage when they are located on an airstrip near the front line.
