While looking at various airfields in Israel,I noticed what looks like a B-24 at one of them.If anyone has time,check out these lat-longs: N31 11 24.74 E35 02 39.4 and see what you think.Thanks.

I would guess it's a C-130 since the IAF has a few of those. I see your point, though. It certainly looks like a B-24 in the fuzzy Google maps picture.

Yes, they had 5 Boeing 377s with civil registrations as well as 1 KC-97F and 8 Gs with the IDF.

I think you are probably correct on the C-130 idea.The tail looked like a B-24 tail to me.

When the 98th Bomb Group first arrived in the MTO, their first base was Ramat David, which is in modern day Israel. Still, had there been anything left behind by the 98th, it certainly would have been utilized by the fledgling IAF. IIRC, the British also based Halifax and Sterling bombers there as well, but again, anything left behind would have been utilized by the IAF. In fact, for a tribute to 69 Squadron which flew B-17s in IAF service, the monument is a turret from a British heavy bomber, not an American one.

Israel's national airline, El Al, also used Connies until they acquired the 707s.
