I have just finish reading the book ”The Little Airline that Could” Eastern Provincial Airways.
The First Fifteen Years, of Marsh Jones. ISBN 1-895387-95-7
That’s told you that there was about 15 Cansoes involved in the building of the Mid-Canada Line, on contract with the Department of Defence. (DWE Line) can any one tell me what this was for Cansoes and from witch Company? And the best is, if any have photos of them there can be added to the photo section, so we all can be happy to see them.
I know of CF-FAN and CF-GBQ (no photo of that one) from Maritime Central Airlines.
CF-HFL from EPA.
The book doesn’t tell you about the accident with CF-HGE 13/9/1962, so whom was the owner of it on this time?
Cheers,
Erik
Erik,
First off, CF-HGE was apparently one of six Cansos operated by EPA, along with CF-CRP, -HFL, -IHA, -NJC, and -NWY
It would seem the other major operator of Cansos on the Mid-Canada Line was Austin Airways. Although based in Timmins, Ontario, Austin flew many MCL flights out of Moosonee in the 1950's.
Austin ultimately operated eight Cansos: CF-AAD, -DFB, -FAR, -IEE, -IHB, -JCV, -JTL, and -GGDW.
I found all this great info at the following link, starting at page 68.
