Spruce Goose cockpit differences

Can someone tell me why the cockpit layouts are so different in the two photos, considering only one Goose was built

Probably because the whole time the H1 was sequestered in its special hangar, Hughes had changes made. He could never finalize a design, and he had guys working on the aircraft, keeping it airworthy until he died.

IIRC the fire extinguishing system was added sometime after it's only flight.
