A few months ago (february) I asked how to best prepare for my first visit to Reno Air races and many of you guys shared great and usefull advice on how to make the visit successfull (Thanks!). Initially my visit was as great as I could ever have hoped for, before the very unfortunate accident.

I sat in G section just in front of the finishing line and felt the physical blast wave including some drops of moisture landing on me just afterwards so it was close but knowing that the mind can play tricks with you in these types of situations I return in my mind now and again, wondering how close it actually was. So out of curiosity does anyone know where the aircraft impacted in relation to the section seating on the grand stands? Is there a drawing showing the seating in relation to the impact?

It was a terrible accident and my thoughts return often to the ones that suffered so much as a result of it.

I'm glad you're OK Mike -- a terrible introduction for you to a wonderful sport and air show. Interestingly I know of no area map showing point of impact, and I never went to the area after the accident, though my wife went up to help counsel traumatised (but physically unhurt) survivors.

I just know it hit between the rows of box seats in front of the general admission stands -- and you obviously already know this. I have not been up to the stands for many years now, so I don't even know the layout there -- I'm sure some here will have more information...

We were in the Box A-62, the impact was about 120' to the left. Some one mentioned that a box is about 10' wide.
