It is good to see over last 10years a gradual recognition by public that the 3 years Korean War, wasnt a Police Action but a full scale war and many paid the ultimate price.
My grandfather who served with 3 RAR (Australian Army) is only alive due to at times his unit getting.... close air support in many battles they fought in. Artillery helped ( to be blunt - it slaughtered at times human waves from the NK and Chincoms) and so did hand to hand fighting to a lesser extent but air support did save many lives - thus making important contributions to the saving of South Korean and many other soldiers lives.
Korean era warbirds are growing in number each few years. Australia is home to a few.
We are very lucky to have 2 x A-26 Invader warbirds in Australia.
We have a A-26 Invader undergoing long term restoration in Australia into a hopeful Korean warbird scheme. It certainly will be unique, the other A-26 Invader also in Australia is under going restoration into a WW2 scheme i am lead to believe at this stage.
We have a P-51 Mustang in 77 Sqn colours and a Meteor F.8 jet in Korean Mig Killer colours - both are honoring 77sqn RAAF service in Korea.
Vietnam era is slowing growing as well but that is another post.
