forgive me as I was never in the military, but WHAT is that artilary piece ??

Ah, now THAT be a fine example of German workmanship from the days of the Kaiser. More properly a 1918 Kruppe Field Piece. My guess would be about a 105mm?! And if you look real close you will see little dings and dents-real bullett holes. of course we passed up photos of what looked to be a 1.1" machinegun and a couple of other artillary-type pieces. But, this one was SO DAM BIG! EH!( I hope this wasn't a Rohrvision Quiz!?)

My first guess would have been that this artillary piece was of German origin, but I would have been guessing even worse at the "caliber" and date...although both the front armor plate and wheel designs kinda give away something of the date...I would not have known otherwise.

Any time, Paul! Getting up close and personal to the piece, my head, at 6'4", didn't come near to the muzzle, more like the square tube beneath it, just for scale purposes! :shock:

The VFW hall here in Costa Mesa that I pass everyday has a WWI vintage "French"75mm cannon parked out front.It appears complete and I have been meaning to stop and look at it for the past 5 years.maybe someday.it'll probably disappear before I take the time. Tim :shock:
