VBF-94 Corsair photos

Mon Jul 04, 2011 10:47 pm

I'm looking for a photo of (or several photos from different angles) an F4u-4 Corsair from the VBF-94 group from the USS Lexington. My uncle flew this type Corsair with this squadron and was shot down and killed over Japan on July 24, 1945. I have finally found a photo of a F4U-1D with the VBF-94 markings, but need to know if the markings are the same. I can find nearly all the Marine squadrons and a lot of the Navy, but I need this one so I can build a memorial model. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your uncle didn't happen to be Lt. Boggs ?

Yes, my uncle's name was Ralph Edwin Boggs. My Mom's oldest brother and everyone called him Edwin. I didn't get to meet him as I was born 1951, but I'm in contact with his former wife. She sent me a picture of him in his flyer's outfit and also sent me some record copies.
My name is Guice Howell.
