I am in early discussions with a film maker who is wishing to make a air war movie i understand in Australia so far .....and maybe also extend to filming overseas if that is required.

My technical / historical adviser role has come about as the person saw my flightgear webpage and has requested some flightgear possibly for the movie.

What is the general feel of warbird aircraft been used in movies?

I havent been told if this will be a real film or CGI so far. We have a few warbirds which would look good in Australia on film but whether the movie gets that far to shoot them on ground or air is another issue.

I will advise if anymore comes out of this "movie" early days. We have in Australia been known for making some great war movies and it is time a air war movie was made here.

Which era? It is always a balance of budget vs. accuracy vs. story.
I don't know which film maker you speak of, but a very well known film maker in NZ has the largest and best collection of WW1 aircraft in the world... and, the 100th anniversary of the Great War is only 2 years away...

Best of luck and success in whatever you plan to do.

Turns out the movie is designed to be a film with CGI action and to be based around the USAF Korean Air War perspective.

I had a 2hr talk to one of the 2 main producers of the movie idea tonight and they are off to USA next week to attend a US military film festical with another movie they have done on WW2 i think ground war.

Ive been asked to assist in providing my extensive knowledge of the Korean conflict, F-86 operations and to provide some of my flightgear to make it look realisitic.

Obviously a long term project from what i hear so it is a start and maybe if it progresses further can hopefully use some Australian warbirds if lucky to "star" beside the actors.
