I spent today 1hr interviewing a well known Australian RAAF pilot who served in Vietnam as an exchange crew on RF-4Cs.

He told me that his RF-4C 67-0448 which he flew for majority of his missions in country had been preserved at Davis Monthan and then in the last few years was put onto active drone list to be destroyed. We understand it is still droning away at present as last of the F-4 lot of drones.

The aircraft is a historical Vietnam veteran and he is trying to maybe get it saved so it can be brought to Australia as an important Vietnam display at the Australian Vietnam Veterans Museum in Victoria.

I have seen today also other memories of his time in Vietnam such as his flight log book and his actual flight helmet as worn.

As this RF-4C is a drone the chances it will survive are significantly reduced i would believe.
Regardless of drone action, is there any way the USAF can be contacted to try to save it before it is lost forever?

Phil

Probably not since the gubmint has spent over a million dollars converting it to a drone.
