Vought V-173 Flying Flapjack Rollout!!!

The restoration in Dallas of the V-173 Flying flapjack by the Vought Heritage Group is finished!

The aircraft is heading for the Frontiers of Flight museum in Dallas.

Very nice! It seems this is the only way aircraft from the NASM are going to get restored, when someone esle undertakes the job.

This is probably a silly question but, I am assuming that the landing gear is fixed? It seems like such a huge source of drag.

Yes, landing gear is fixed. This was more a proof-of-concept vehicle and a demonstrator for low-speed manuverability than anything else. At such low speeds drag is less a factor.

Note also that access is from a door on the bottom of the aircraft.
