I'm looking for a F-86L Sabre that was on static display in downtown West Point Mississippi from 1962 until about 1979. It then went to a museum in Florida according to city officials.

Anybody know which one it is or if it is still around?

The aerovisual database contains 52 F-86Ls.
I do not know the serial number of the aircraft.
People keep asking me what happened to the old bird.
Thanks

According to Leslie Hunt's Veteran And Vintage Aircraft publication - 1974 edition - it lists an F-86D/L on display at West Point, MS with tail number 53-658...Hope ID helps...Leon

The F-86D in NV is 53-568 Winnemucca, on pole by Oct94
The F-86L, 53-658 in Akron, MAPS museum, under restoration since arrival in 2008. Ex-Wauchula Municipal Airport FL, Florida Military Aviation Museum by .99, ex-St Petersburg/Clearwater IAP, ex-Pinellas Park, Yesterday's Air Force, ex-West Point.

I think the one in Ohio is the one I'm looking for. Can anyone confirm?
Anyone from MAPS chime in? WHy was the serial number changed on the current jet?

If you go to WIX Hanger, scroll down to 'B-26 Marauder Restoration Update(s)' authored by Sasnak, written on Mar 23, 2012, you will see MAPS website referred to in his initial observation. Click on Maps site and search museum Aircraft - you will see an F-86D/L - now painted with another serial number - but is actually 53-0658... 8) Leon
