Great photos Jack! Tanks agian.
I find the oxygen hose extension on Capt. Raynor's O2 mask in the last photo very interesting. That's not usually seen outside of the cockpit.

nice timing Jack. Just got my copy of "The Backdoor Gang" in the mail today.

Gotta love those 474th birds. Now I just need a copy of "The Retail Gang" to go with "The Geyser Gang" and "Backdoor Gang"

I'm looking for a copy of the book, The "Backdoor" Gang: The 430th Fighter Squadron in World War II, by Alexander Francis Shennan. The info I have says it was originally published about 1950, but has been republished in the last 10 years.

My Dad, TSGT P. G. "Tuck" Normand, was a Crew Chief on P-38s in the 430th during WWII. In 1983, he and Don Cerveny were in the process of gathering info for a new book on the 430th. My Dad died in September 1984.

I have the two books on the 428th (The Geyser Gang) and the 429th (The Retail Gang).

Good Evening Gentlemen,

I saw your post on the 429th retail gang book and was wondering if anyone would know either where I can get copies of or the book itself. I'm doing research on my 3rd cousin 2nd Lt. Paul M. Daily nicknamed Mont. He flew with the 429th and was KIA in 1945 after being shot down. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

It was apparently a limited run of 250 books. I've tried to track one down, and the last I saw for sale was over $500. A bit steep as much as I'd like a copy to go with "The Geyser Gang" and "Backdoor Gang" on my shelf.
