A new post is up at RetroMechanix.com presenting the Martin 246 naval attack aircraft proposal of 1949:

Image

This unsolicited proposal featured an inverted gull wing, T-tail, and a novel rotary bomb bay capable of delivering a wide variety of ordnance. The article features 23 images, reproducing the entire proposal brochure and related BuAer correspondence.

Do you think GLOSTER got a peek @ this proposal? Martin developed the rotary bombay and used it on the XB-51, XPBM-6 SEAMASTER, and the B-57 as it cut way down on airframe turbulence over a conventional gaping wide open one.
