Got this idea from another forum:

1. What shows have you attended this year?
Selfridge, Goshen, Thunder Over Michigan

2. What show was your favorite and why?
Thunder Over Michigan because it was the first time I've seen a BF 109 fly. The 8 B-17s didn't exactly hurt the rating either!

3. One thing you didn't like about a show and why.
They had the music turned up too loud at Goshen.

4. What was your favorite act so far?
The BF 109 at Thunder, followed closely by the F-100 at Goshen and the B-17 flight at Thunder.

5. Did you see any types you've never seen before?
Yes. At Selfridge, the F-104, F-4 and A-37. At Goshen, the F-100. At Thunder, the BF 109, Grumman Duck and FJ-4.

6. What was the most interesting thing you saw so far this year?
The Daimler Benz engine on the 109 :D

7. What, if anything, are you looking forward to the rest of the year?
I won't be going to any more shows so probably reliving all the shows and looking forward to next year.

8. Which shows would you most like to attend in the future?
I'll definetly go back to Thunder next year, and probably Elkhart, Goshen and Muskegon too. If I get lucky, maybe Indianapolis, MAPS or Wings of Victory as well. Hopefully someday I'll make it to Geneseo and Oshkosh.

9. Have you been to any museums this year/ are you planning on visiting any museums this year?
I've been to the Air Zoo a bunch of times and I'm planning on going to the USAF Museum in Dayton.

1. What shows have you attended this year?
Sun n' Fun in Florida, La Ferte Alais near Paris, Duxford (VE-day in May and Legends), Old Warden (5 so far, plus the Moth Day), Dunsfold, Wattisham Open Day

2. What show was your favorite and why?
Tie between Sun 'n Fun (the social side, plus Glacier Girl) , La Ferte (so many new types to see, and a great French atmosphere to everything) and Legends (the social side again)

3. One thing you didn't like about a show and why.
Too many repetative aerobatic acts one after the other at Sun n' Fun, the mud and the near-loss of the '109 at La Ferte.

4. What was your favorite act so far?
Glacier Girl at Sun n' Fun, the Morane-Saulnier 406 at La Ferte, and Peter Vacher's lovely Battle of Britain veteran Hurricane I R4118.

5. Did you see any types you've never seen before?
MS 406 at La Ferte (although there's one in the museum at Le Bourget, this is the first time I've seen the only flyer), Saab B.17 at Legends (ditto, only seen a museum example before), Duck at Sun n' Fun are three of many that come to mind.

6. What was the most interesting thing you saw so far this year?
Flying across the volcanoes and rain forest and into a small coastal strip in Costa Rica in April. A bit different from the scenery in Eastern England!

7. What, if anything, are you looking forward to the rest of the year?
Reno

8. Which shows would you most like to attend in the future?
Some more interesting East European ones.

9. Have you been to any museums this year/ are you planning on visiting any museums this year?
Fantasy of Flight (Polk City), Airline History Museum (Kansas City), USS Hornet (Alameda), Western Aerospace Museum (Oakland), Duxford, Old Warden, RAF Museum (Hendon), Science Museum (London), Imperial War Museum (London), Chicago Museum of Science & Industry, Museum of Berkshire Aviation (Woodley), Carpetbaggers Museum (Harrington), Glenn Miller Museum (Twinwoods), Florida Air Museum (Lakeland). Will try and visit some more in the SF Bay area over the remainder of the year.

1. What shows have you attended this year?
Flying Legends at Duxford.

2. What show was your favorite and why?
Flying Legends over Duxford. Spitfires!

3. One thing you didn't like about a show and why.
The commentator kept saying that the Spitfire XVIII was painted as Johnnie Johnson's Spitfire XIV, when in fact that kite was in the hanger with the engine off.

4. What was your favorite act so far?
Something about the power of the Griffon engined XVIII leading the rest of the Spits. it had a sound all its own and it was mean and powerful.

5. Did you see any types you've never seen before?
The Hawk 75, P39 and 51C in flight for the first time.

6. What was the most interesting thing you saw so far this year?
The area between Caen and Falaise when we stayed in France after the airshow. All kinds of history everywhere.

7. What, if anything, are you looking forward to the rest of the year?
Winning the lottery so I can have my own Spitfire and Mustang :)

8. Which shows would you most like to attend in the future?
Return to England for Legends. Doubtful in the near future though with another kid off to college. Oshkosh would be nice cause it's driving distance from Minnesota

9. Have you been to any museums this year/ are you planning on visiting any museums this year?
RAF Museum, Imperial War Museum, Falaise Museum and a number of small museums in the Normandy region.

Now about that lottery ticket winner :)

Dan

My year so far...

1. Shows I've attended...Friendly Foes (Russell); Soar With Legends (CWH); Gennie (HAG); Classics At Collingwood (CCAF); Thunder (YAM).

2. Favourite event...difficult, but possibly Friendly Foes, since seeing Spit, Hurricane and Me109 airborne thrice each at one's first event of the year is a KICK! :D The relaxed atmosphere at the Collingwood fly-in was nice too.

3. Dislikes/quibbles...The mess the highway system is around Detroit right now, resulting in my arrival at Yankee at 11am instead of 845!

4. Favourite "act"...also tough, but probably from Friendly Foes again, watching Mr R's three fighters tailchasing each other round Niagara South. A tip of the hat, too, to a long-time favourite act we may not see again: the sublime sailplane routine flown by Oscar Boesch, who retired this year.

5. New types seen in the air...Me109 (of course) at FF and Yankee/Thunder; FJ-4B at Yankee.

6. Interesting thing...The 109 engine certainly qualifies (even hearing it was a remarkable treat); have also seen a near-complete Halifax, the front end of a very early Avro Anson in a private museum collection, and an amazing time-capsule ex-RCAF PBY Canso in a hangar where it's been stored since the early sixties. Also caught, by chance, the unloading of CAvM's Hispano Buchon, returning "home" to the new storage hangar from a period of loan at WCAM in Winnipeg. But maybe the niftiest would be watching an engine runup by CWH's newly-completed, bumblebee-striped Lysander.

7. Shows to look forward to...Carp (Ottawa); CNE; Brampton and Guelph fly-ins.

8. Shows I'd like to see...Legends (of course); Marlborough NZ; Wanaka NZ; Shuttleworth evening display...and some year I must do Oshkosh, too.

9. Museums seen this year...Toronto Aerospace Museum (Downsview--have a painting in a display there this year); RCAFM (Trenton); Carlaw Memorial Military Museum (Campbellford); CAvM (Rockcliffe/Ottawa--have a painting in their art display this year too); Canada War Museum (Ottawa); CWH (Mt.Hope/Hamilton).

Cheers

S.

zip zilch zero, but i will make the cleveland national air show over labor day. only an hour from me. last years show was the absolute worst, damned near embarrassing!!! the headliner act was that blue magister team.... can't remember their name. they were ok, but no blue angels, thunderbirds, snow birds caliber.
