Does anybody know what happened to the F6F that was on display at the Pima Air Museum in Arizona? It was drug out of the water somewhere, but I don't remember if it was the ocean or Lake Michigan or what. Does anybody happen to have a picture of when it was on display at Pima? Does anybody know if there was ever a Wildcat on Display or not?

I need to know all of this to settle an argument.

Brad

The Hellcat was bought up from the very deep ocean , [3,400ft off San Diego] . It was taken to Pima because the dry air would slow any corrosion . Went to Penscacola in 92 and is apparently on static display at Herlong FL.
Don't know about the Wildcat.

The Hellcat that was at Pima now sits on the simulated deck
of the USS Cabot at NMNA in Pensacola. It is painted in the
markings of Cabot ace Ray Hawkins.

Blue skies,

I think I may have figured out how to post an image of this
bird as it appears today.

There are some pretty good shots of that airplane in a popular 80's teen movie "Can't Buy Me Love". The kid says they "recovered it off the coast of japan" . I always wondered what the story was on that hellcat, and what happened to it. There is also a couple of shots of a Panther or a Cougar and a Gooney Bird.
