As an olde aeroplane addict, I assume that the various sounds generated by our favorite machinery ring sweet to your ears as they do mine. Certainly hearing the P&Ws, Wrights, Jacobs, Rangers, Merlins, Griffons, Allisons come to life is a major part of the allure of vintage aircraft. Toss in the occasional Daimler-Benz or Sakae (Klimov? Jumo?) and the magic intensifies.
Thanks to the internet, sounds of aircraft now extinct or static are often accessible.
Not sure if such a thread exists at WIX, so I thought I'd "test the waters" to see what interest might exist for collecting engine noise from extinct/static-only types (warbird or otherwise) all in one spot. I'll get it started with a couple I've stumbled across over the years.
I'm sure many of you are already familiar with the Napier Sabre sound bytes at the Hawker Tempest Page:
http://www.hawkertempest.se/Sounds.htmOne that's a little more obtuse is the Mitsubishi Kasei (of J2M Raidens) at takeoff power. I realize that this might be a soundover, but listening to the entire vid I think it's genuine. See what you think. The Kasei music runs from about 6:56-7:15 in the following link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCfKUOj9ojII know there's more out there. All extinct/static-only aircraft welcome.
