I'd like to know if the squadron code letter 'CR' marked on this P-51D in fact belongs to the 370th Fighter Squadron. The tail number '6371' (43-6371?) should correspond to a P-51B-5.

Doesn't appear to be a WWII photo judging by the tinted canopy plexi.
Appears to be 511371 on the tail.

To answer your question... no, 'CR' was not the code for the 370th FS... that outfit's code was 'CS'.
