Pilot group donates flag pole to honor WWII air crews

The River Valley Pilots Association has donated a flag pole to Russellville, Ark., in honor of those who served on World War II air crews. The pole will be displayed at the Russellville airport, which served as an early training ground for military men. "Many of our local airports played a significant role in training pilots during World War II," said association member Phil Cowger. "The program wasn't associated with the military, but it gave guys like my dad a jump-start when they entered the military." The Courier
