So does anyone know how to get ahold of the documentary that the CAF produced in the 1970's called 'The Ghost Squadron"? I know it was 'revised' a couple times over the years, but I was hoping to find a copy of the original. I saw it on film back when I was a kid...was wondering if there might be any old VHS copies floating around somewhere.

I'll second that. The RGV Wing in Brownsille showed the original until about two years ago. I had asked them before if it was available for sale, but no one knew. It suddenly dissappeared and the new version is now shown. I would love to have the original as it was very good.

I too have been looking for a copy of that. I did not know they had a VHS copy at the RGV wing. I talked to some of the members down in the valley about 12 years ago and no one had a copy then. I contacted the headquarters in Midland and they never knew an hour long version existed. They only knew about the half hour version narrated by Lowell Thomas. They only knew about the half hour version narrated by Lowell Thomas.

I saw the original so many time as a kid I think I can still quote the first half of it by heart. I think it was narrated by Joe Holstead. I can remember talking to John Hadley who worked in the PX/purchasing and he had sent it off to be copied to VHS but the film was very dirty and was in the process of being cleaned frame by frame first. That was the last I heard of it.

From what I learned there never was a copy of the original one hour movie put to tape. The updated half hour version was sold on VHS and I have a copy of that.

Let me know please if you find it.

Well, it was probably the short version that was being aired at RGV. The last time I went it was the updated version that had a number of interjections by Steve Brown. I would love to see the version you have.
